German Air Traffic Services, DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, selected Era to provide multilateration surface surveillance for the planned Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) at Hamburg Airport. Era, based in Reston, Va., said the A-SMGCS will help the airport and DFS support growth, maximize efficiency and ensure the safety of surface operations. The A-SMGCS will fuse tracking data from Era’s MSS ground stations, which provide coverage of runways, taxiways and aprons. Era has been selected for surface surveillance at airports, including Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Copenhagen, Oslo and Munich.
